I have turned to the sky since I was a child, the stars, moon, planets, Sun and untold mysteries beyond, excited and guided my developing mind. Although I don’t study astronomy or the like, I still turn to the deep void of the night sky and the eternal reminder that we are but specks to find solace. Solace in the knowledge that out there in the twisted eternity of the night is the means of creation, the ever churning engine of dust and rock and things yet unthought of that brought you, me, and everyone that has ever existed into a place to call itself life.
We turn our technology upwards and devise ways to see what lies beyond the sight of mere men and capture moments from other times. These moments from eons ago tell of events so massive that us mortals are bereft of terms for them but seem to us like epochs of collisions and explosions spewing forth creation. With these paintings I follow in the footsteps of landscape painters, yet instead of turning to the nature that we see and go forth on foot to find and claim as our own, since there is no land left to find for my generation, the vast mystery that is our universe serves as my muse.
